The 2014-2015 biometric verification into pensioners and workers in Nasarawa state
and local government councils said yesterday that it has discovered
1,600 ghost workers during the exercise.
The discovery was reported to Governor Tanko
Al-Makura at the Government House Chamber, the executor director

central on behalf of Sky Bank PLc, Alhaji Idris Yakubu expressed delight
to the government for giving them ample opportunity to carry out the
verification.
According to him, “The purpose is to verify
persons on the pay roll of government and pensioners across the state.
To capture data biometric of the workforce. Provide adequate clean
number of workers in the state government pay roll.”
He further added that if the report is
properly implemented it would go a long way creating job opportunities
for the teeming youths in the state as well as aid government to embark
on meaningful projects that would enhance living condition of the
citizens.
He continued: “During the exercise we were
able to recover over N83million if government will implement this amount
monthly it will also run into N990 billion yearly.”
Receiving the report, the state governor,
Alhaji Umaru Tanko Al-Makura commended the consultant for their
commitment in ensuring that the exercise was a fruitful one.
According to him, “Despite the challenges
faced because of its complex nature but you were able to come out with a
comprehensive report. We are most exited especially the submission came
at the period digital (BVN) and (TSA) that would aid the state
government in checks and balances that are required.”
Al-MAakura added, “We this report Nasarawa state government is indeed
equipped with detail report, which will check mate wastages and
corruption that bedeviled the system in the past. I assure you that the
report will be immediately look into and full implementation will soon
commence.”
